In the 15th match of WPL 2024, UP Warriors have achieved a thrilling win by 1 run against Delhi Capitals. Batting first, UP scored 138 runs. After this, while defending this small total, the UP bowlers bundled out Delhi Capitals for 137 runs. With this victory, UP has kept itself in the race for the playoffs.

Deepti once again played a half-century innings

Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, UP Warriors team scored 138 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. From UP side, only Deepti Sharma played a big innings and once again scored a half-century. He scored 59 runs in 48 balls with the help of 6 fours and one six.

Apart from this, captain Alyssa Healy contributed 29 runs and Grace Harris contributed 14 runs. Except these three batsmen, no one could touch double figures. Titas Sadhu and Radha Yadav took 2-2 wickets for Delhi. Whereas Shikha Pandey, Arundhati Reddy, Jess Jonason and Alice Capsey got 1 wicket each.

Delhi Capitals all out for 137 runs

Delhi Capitals, chasing the easy target of 139 runs given by UP, could score only 137 runs after losing all the wickets in 19.5 overs. Delhi did not have a good start and opener Shefali Verma was out after scoring only 15 runs. After this, Alice Capsey (15) and Jemimah Rodrigues (17) also returned to the pavilion cheaply.

However, captain Meg Lanning once again displayed excellent batting. He took Delhi closer to victory with his 60 runs in 46 balls. But, she was out in the 14th over. Meg Lanning hit 12 fours in her innings.

Game changed in two overs

After Lanning’s dismissal, the game changed completely in the last two overs. Deepti Sharma took three wickets for just 5 runs in the 19th over, which brought UP into the match. In the last i.e. 20th over, despite giving 8 runs in the first two balls, Grace Harris won the match for UP by taking three wickets in the next three balls. In this way, defending 138 runs, UP Warriors defeated Delhi Capitals by 1 run in a thrilling match.

After batting, Deepti Sharma also did wonders with the ball and took four wickets giving just 19 runs in her spell of 4 overs. This also includes a hat-trick. Whereas Saima Thakor and Grace Harris got 2-2 wickets.
