In the 17th match played today in WPL 2024, Delhi Capitals registered a thrilling win by 1 run against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Batting first, Delhi scored 181 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to a half-century by Jemimah Rodrigues. In response, RCB team could score only 180 runs after losing 7 wickets in the stipulated overs. Richa Ghosh played a valuable inning of 51 runs for RCB, but she could not lead the team to victory. Delhi has qualified for the playoffs with this win, while difficulties have increased for RCB.

Jemima batted brilliantly

Before this, Delhi Capitals had a great start. Openers Shefali Verma and Meg Lanning batted brilliantly and made a partnership of 54 runs for the first wicket. But Shefali was out after scoring 23 runs and Lanning after scoring 29 runs in the 7th and 8th overs respectively.

After both these batsmen returned to the pavilion, Jemimah Rodrigues took charge and made an important partnership with Alice Capsey. Jemima batted brilliantly and scored 58 runs in 36 balls with the help of 8 fours and one six. Whereas Capsi played an inning of 48 runs in 32 balls, which included 8 fours.

Shreyanka Patil was the most successful bowler for RCB, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs in her four over spell.

Captain Mandhana flopped

Chasing the target of 182 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore had a very bad start and captain Smriti Mandhana returned to the pavilion after scoring only 5 runs. He was dismissed by Ellis Capsey. However, after this Sophie Molineau and Ellyse Perry batted tremendously.

Both the batsmen attacked the Delhi bowlers and made a partnership of 80 runs for the second wicket. But Ellyse Perry missed her half-century. Before being run out in the 11th over, he scored 49 runs in 32 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six. Whereas Molineau scored 33 runs.

Richa Ghosh fought till the last ball

She fought till the last ball, but could not lead the team to victory. She was run out on the last ball of the innings. Richa scored 51 runs in 29 balls, which included 4 fours and 3 sixes.
