39-year-old Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, Wriddhiman Saha, is set to reconnect with his home state Bengal Cricket Association. He represented Bengal for almost 15 years and was last seen playing for Bengal in 2022.
Saha parted ways with the Bengal team ahead of the 2022-23 domestic season after a spat with CAB joint secretary Debabrata Das. At the time, Das in a statement accused Saha of offering various excuses to opt out of Ranji Trophy matches for Bengal. In response, Saha decided to sever ties with Bengal and play for Tripura. Now after two seasons he is ready to return here once again.
Wriddhiman Saha gave a big statement regarding his retirement
Wriddhiman Saha said that he has forgotten the bitter memories of his past. While talking to the media at Eden Gardens, he made it clear that he does not want to talk about the past. Now his focus is on playing for Bengal in the rest of his career. Saha said that at present he wants to play for Bengal as a player and in future he is ready to coach this team. Saha said that he is ready to play in all three formats and the rest will depend on what happens next.
Meanwhile, when the wicketkeeper batsman was questioned about his retirement, he said that for me it is just a number and as long as I am motivated to play this game, I will continue playing. I do not have any retirement plans at the moment. But whenever I leave cricket, I will retire from all three formats.
Wriddhiman Saha has played 40 Tests and 09 ODIs for India. In 40 Test matches, he has scored 1353 runs with three centuries and six half-centuries. He has also played 255 T20 matches along with 136 first class and 116 List A matches. Let us tell you that Saha last played a Test match for India at Wankhede in the year 2021.
